Dishes using persimmon (柿を使ったお料理)

It's a season for persimmons in Japan!!

 

We've been enjoying persimmons - eating it as a fruit, making puddings as well as salad with turnips.  

In terms of oriental medicinal cooking, persimmons are said to have the effect of lowering the heat of the body and moisturizing the lungs.  It is also effective against fever, diarrhea caused by fever, thirst and stomatitis, and coughing.  Perfect for a hangover.

柿の季節ですね。柿はそのまま食べるだでなく、プリンやなますなど調理法をちょっと工夫すると色々楽しめる優秀な食材だったりします。また、柿は薬膳的にいうと、体の熱を下げ、肺などを潤す効果があるとされています。発熱や熱による下痢、口の渇きや口内炎、から咳などにも効きます。二日酔いにもバッチリです。(注:食べ過ぎると体を冷やすのでご注意ください。)
